The Divine Mercy Apostolate is a Spiritual Benefit Society. It is a prayer group, an association of the faithful who make a constant commitment towards achieving Christian perfection by following and living the evangelical counsels of Our Lord by practising the 7 Spiritual and 7 Corporal Works of Mercy. The primary purpose of the Apostolate is to pray for the living and the dead, and to spread devotion to the Mercy of God in the form revealed by Our Lord to St. Faustina in the 1930’s taking for its guide the authorised version of her Diary and the M-17 booklet, ‘The Divine Mercy Message and Devotion.’.
The Message Jesus left St. Faustina was, and is, that God is merciful. He is Love itself poured out for us, and He wants no one to escape that merciful Love. He wants us to turn to Him with Trust and Repentance while it is still a time of mercy, before He comes at the end of time as the Just Judge. In essence the Message is about TRUST and MERCY.
The Divine Mercy Apostolate is a spiritual apostolate. As its main activity it places special emphasis on prayer, particularly the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. Through prayer, in union with Our Lady, St. Faustina and the whole Church, the Mystical Body of Christ, in Heaven and on earth, we unite ourselves with Jesus on the Cross. We offer up our prayers and supplications to our Heavenly Father in Our Lord’s and Our Lady’s redemptive mission for the salvation of souls, imploring His Mercy on all mankind.
Our Lady when She appeared at Fatima in 1917 urged prayer especially the Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration as a means of averting the evils afflicting the world. Also, a presage of His Mercy was given in one of the most important revelations of Fatima. Known as the Last Vision, in 1929 Sister Lucia saw, above the altar in the Chapel, Christ nailed to the Cross. Under the left arm of the Cross, large letters, as if of crystal clear water which ran down over the altar, formed these words: Grace and Mercy.
Our Lord, on the numerous occasions when He appeared to St. Faustina, also urged prayer. He gave her and also through her to us a special means of drawing on His Mercy: an image of the Divine Mercy, a Chaplet, a Novena, a Feast of Mercy, and special adoration at 3 o’clock, the hour of His Death on the Cross.
