More Than Just Furniture – A Sacred Craft

A mandir is not simply a piece of furniture. It is the sacred heart of the home—a space for prayer, devotion, and inner peace. For generations, mandirs have carried cultural and spiritual weight in Hindu households, symbolizing dharma (righteousness) and devotion to faith. At Divine Homes, we understand that a mandir must not only serve as a prayer destination but also reflect the dignity and heritage of your family. That is why we have dedicated over four decades to the art of creating mandirs that embody both tradition and timeless craftsmanship.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship and Dedication

The story of Divine Homes began in 1982 when Ajit migrated to Australia and struggled to find a mandir worthy of their devotion. Drawing upon a generational background in wood carving, they built their first mandirs by hand—infusing each creation with passion, precision, and respect for tradition. What started as a small family venture has grown into one of the largest mandir suppliers worldwide, serving over 10,000 satisfied homes.

Our artisans, many of whom have been with us since the beginning, combine traditional hand-etching techniques with modern tools to deliver mandirs that are both intricate and enduring. Every curve, carving, and detail tells a story—of heritage preserved and spirituality honored.

The Quality You Deserve

Too often, families are disappointed by mandirs that look appealing online but fail in durability and detail. At Divine Homes, quality is never compromised. From ethically sourced solid wood to timeless marble, our materials are chosen not just for beauty but for longevity. Each mandir is inspected and finished to the highest standards, ensuring your sacred space will remain a source of pride and devotion for decades.

We believe a mandir should be as enduring as the prayers it hosts. That’s why we pair tradition with innovation—marrying classic craftsmanship with modern design options, so whether you prefer ornate carvings or minimalistic elegance, you’ll find a mandir that feels truly yours.

A Mandir That Elevates Your Home

A Divine Homes mandir is more than a structure—it transforms your space. Families often share with us how the presence of a handcrafted mandir has uplifted their household, creating a serene environment filled with peace, positivity, and inspiration. It becomes not only a spiritual anchor but also a proud representation of culture and heritage within the home.

With free delivery and professional assembly, your experience is seamless. From the first consultation to the final installation, we ensure your journey to owning a mandir is filled with care and trust.

Conclusion – A Tradition You Can Trust

At Divine Homes, we believe every family deserves a mandir that reflects their devotion and honors their traditions. By choosing quality craftsmanship over mass-produced alternatives, you are choosing a piece of art that will nurture spirituality, preserve cultural identity, and become a cherished heirloom for generations.

Let your home radiate peace, tradition, and beauty. Discover the joy of owning a mandir that is crafted with devotion—just as it is meant to be.

These Mandir’s were not only a place for worship but a show of craftsman ship of the time.

The Evolution of Design

Whilst the Indian Dynasty would evolve so would the Mandir with improvements in the etching making extremely intricate designs. During the Gupta Period 320CE architecture reached new heights which only improved the design of household mandirs. Household mandirs gained influence as they represented larger temples, making it popular amongst the higher class citizens.

during the Medivial period there was a large expansion of material use making it easier to use more unique materials to create a home mandir. However wood stayed consistent as a popular material the introduction of brass and bronze was used aswell. Regional variations began appearing aswell for example in south India there were more carvings surrounding deities whilst north India had larger emphasize on symmetry and elegant simplicity

The Role of Mandirs in Daily Life

Pooja Temples are more then a physical structure they are imbued with deep cultural relevance and spiritual significance. Serving as a central point of daily rituals, from chanting mantras and offerings to the Divine. The home mandir represents purity and devotion to the Divine all in your home.

it would serve as a point of community, bringing everyone to a central place from all generations. Creating an environment where you can share stories and ideas down generations.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Ajit, the founder of Divine Homes. Started in 1982 my wife and I have poured our hearts and souls into building this business with quality and customer service at the forefront of our minds. Growing it from the humble beginnings where it started to now a business with multiple franchises around Australia.

What began as a humble venture has been scaled into a internantional process however we strive to keep customer service and quality craftsmanship at the forfront of the business as this is integral to our values.

Our Mandirs are not just pieces of furniture to display in your house and never use. They are spiritual sanctuaries designed to inspire devotion and provide peace within your house. As said earlier to ensure we inspire people we use the same techniques used centuries ago so it really feels like it’s part of your home. Regardless of your stage in life, it could be your first home or your last one the entire experience will feel like the mandir was made for you and your home.

Read more About us

About Our Mandirs

A pooja temple, or mandir, is more than just a piece of furniture in Indian homes—it’s the heart of the household, a sacred space that radiates peace, devotion, and spiritual connection. Whether large or small, intricately carved or minimalist, the pooja temple is a powerful symbol of faith, culture, and tradition that transcends generations.

A Place to Connect with the Divine

The pooja temple serves as a dedicated space for worship, prayer, and reflection. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it offers a serene corner to pause and connect with the divine. Many Indian families start and end their days by offering prayers at the mandir, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and happiness.

The simple act of lighting a diya (lamp) or chanting a mantra in front of the pooja temple brings a sense of calm and grounding, reminding us of the larger spiritual journey amidst life’s challenges.

A Symbol of Culture and Heritage

For Indians, the pooja temple embodies a deep-rooted cultural heritage. It is a place where age-old traditions come alive, from celebrating festivals like Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi to performing daily rituals that have been passed down through generations.

In homes abroad, such as in Sydney, the mandir also serves as a bridge to one’s roots, preserving cultural identity and ensuring that traditions remain vibrant in a modern, multicultural setting.

Fostering Family Bonds

The pooja temple often becomes the center of family gatherings during special occasions and festivals. From performing aarti together to decorating the mandir as a family, it fosters unity and shared experiences. These rituals create memories that children carry forward, ensuring that the essence of the family’s spiritual practices is passed on.

Aesthetic and Spiritual Harmony

Beyond its spiritual significance, a well-designed pooja temple adds to the beauty and harmony of a home. It is often crafted with intricate designs, traditional carvings, or elegant modern touches, reflecting the homeowner’s personality and faith.

According to Vastu Shastra, the placement of the mandir can enhance positive energy in the house. Positioned correctly, it is believed to bring prosperity, peace, and balance to the home and its residents.

A Sacred Space in Modern Times

In today’s fast-paced world, the mandir serves as a retreat—a space where one can disconnect from distractions and reconnect with inner peace. With many families living in apartments or smaller homes, compact and innovative pooja temples have become popular, ensuring that the sacred space remains integral to every household, regardless of size.

Conclusion

The pooja temple is not just a physical structure but a spiritual anchor for Indian homes. It represents faith, tradition, and a deep connection to one’s roots. Whether you’re setting up a traditional wooden mandir or a sleek marble one, the essence remains the same: it’s a space where devotion meets design, and where the divine finds a home.

At Divine Homes, we understand the importance of a pooja temple in creating a sacred atmosphere in your home.
If you're facing a space crunch and wondering whether you can place a mandir in your bedroom, you're not alone. Many homes, especially in cities, have limited space, and finding the perfect spot for a pooja room can be tricky. While the ideal location for a mandir is often in the living room or kitchen, sometimes the bedroom might be your only option. Let's explore whether this is advisable, what Vastu Shastra has to say, and how to make it work if needed.

Mandir Placement According to Vastu

Vastu Shastra, the ancient Indian science of architecture, emphasizes that a pooja room should be a sacred space in your home. Ideally, it should not be placed in the bedroom. According to Vastu, sleeping in the same room where you perform pooja isn't recommended because the bedroom is your personal, intimate space, while the pooja room is meant for devotion and reverence.

However, if you don't have any other option, you can place a mandir in the bedroom, but there are a few crucial guidelines to follow.

Vastu Guidelines for a Mandir in the Bedroom

If a mandir must be placed in your bedroom, follow these Vastu rules to ensure positive energy flow:

Northeast Direction: Always place the mandir in the northeast corner of the bedroom. This direction is considered highly auspicious and aligns with the flow of positive energy.

Platform Setup: Use a small platform or elevated structure to set up the mandir. This ensures that the idols or pictures of deities are not directly on the floor, which is considered disrespectful.

Avoid Dark Colors: The area around the mandir should be well-lit and free of dark or gloomy colors. Light, calming shades like white or cream work best to keep the space inviting and full of positive vibes.

Feet Placement: Make sure that your bed is positioned so that your feet do not point towards the mandir when you sleep. According to Vastu, this is a sign of disrespect.

Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the mandir and its surroundings are always clean and well-organized. The space should be treated with respect and free of clutter.

Cover the Mandir: When the mandir is not in use, consider covering it with a cloth to maintain its sanctity. This helps separate the pooja space from the personal space when you're sleeping or engaging in other activities.

Why You Should Avoid a Bedroom Mandir (If Possible)

While it is possible to have a mandir in your bedroom, it is generally not ideal. The energy and purpose of a bedroom conflict with those of a pooja room. You might wear shoes in the bedroom, and personal items like clothes, shoes, and electronics could affect the sacred atmosphere that a mandir requires.

Additionally, there is a traditional belief that the energy required for devotion is best separated from the restful energy needed in a bedroom. If you have another space, such as the living room, hallway, or even a small corner of the kitchen, those are better options.

A Bit of History: Mandirs in Homes

Interestingly, the tradition of having a mandir at home wasn't always common. Before the British colonial period in India, people would visit temples for their prayers and poojas. However, during British rule, many people were restricted from going to temples, and the practice of setting up home mandirs became more popular. This adaptation allowed people to maintain their spiritual practices from the comfort of their homes.

Conclusion: Can a Mandir Be in the Bedroom?

In an ideal world, your mandir should be in a separate, quiet, and clean space within your home. However, if space constraints leave you with no other option but to place the mandir in your bedroom, follow the Vastu principles mentioned above to ensure that the energy in the room remains positive. If you're ever in doubt, consulting a Vastu expert can help you find the best solution for your home.

At the end of the day, devotion and intent are what matter most, and as long as you maintain respect for the space, your mandir can continue to be a sacred place, even in a small bedroom.

Can Mandir be in a Bedroom?

Mandirs Near Me

Top 8 Temples all around Australia to find the best one that suits your

If you've ever stepped into an Indian home or visited a Hindu temple, you've likely noticed a special place dedicated to worship—a mandir. But what exactly is a mandir, and why does it hold such significance?

A mandir (also known as a temple) is a sacred space where Hindus perform religious rituals, offer prayers, and connect with their deities. In a broader sense, it's not just a physical structure but a spiritual anchor for the household, designed to invite peace, positivity, and divine energy into the home.

A Glimpse into the History of Mandirs

Mandirs have been around for thousands of years, evolving in both design and purpose. Historically, mandirs were grand architectural marvels, often standing in the heart of a village or town. These traditional Indian mandirs served as communal spaces for worship and festivals. However, in modern times, smaller mandirs for home became more popular, offering families a personal space to pray and reflect.

The Role of a Mandir in Everyday Life

For many Hindus, daily life revolves around their pooja mandir. Whether it's a simple wall-mounted mandir or a beautifully crafted wooden mandir, this sacred space is used to start the day with morning prayers, offer flowers, incense, and food to the deities, and seek blessings for the household's well-being.

The act of worship, or puja, often involves chanting mantras, lighting a diya (oil lamp), and offering fruits or sweets as a sign of gratitude. Having a mandir for small apartments or homes can create a sense of mindfulness and peace, serving as a spiritual retreat within your living space.

Different Types of Mandirs for Home

Mandirs come in a wide range of designs, offering plenty of choices to fit your space and style. Some of the popular types include:

Wooden Mandirs: These handcrafted mandirs are known for their traditional look, featuring detailed carvings. Whether you're looking for a small or designer pooja mandir, wooden options provide a classic aesthetic.

Wall-Mounted Mandirs: Perfect for smaller spaces or compact mandirs for small spaces, these mandirs can be installed on walls, ensuring you don't sacrifice floor space.

Marble Mandirs: Marble mandirs for home are elegant and symbolize purity. They are a great option for homeowners looking to bring a modern yet traditional element into their living space.

Portable Mandirs: For renters or people who travel often, ready-made mandirs or custom mandirs are an excellent solution. They are lightweight and can easily be moved from one home to another without any hassle.

Why Having a Mandir Matters in Modern Homes

In today's fast-paced world, having a mandir for home offers a quiet sanctuary for personal reflection and prayer. Whether it's a traditional pooja mandir or a sleek, modern design, a mandir adds spiritual balance to your household.

For Indian families living in Australia, integrating a pooja mandir into your new home can also be a way to stay connected to your roots. Many Australian stores now offer affordable mandirs, making it easy to find the perfect one for your home.

How to Choose the Right Mandir for Your Home

When you're ready to buy a mandir for new home, consider both the available space and your personal aesthetic. If you have a dedicated room for worship, you can opt for a designer pooja mandir or even a mandir with intricate carvings. For smaller spaces, a wall-mounted mandir or compact mandir would be more practical.

You can also choose a mandir with storage drawers to neatly store your puja essentials. Many mandirs with lighting options are available as well, providing an illuminating focal point for your worship space.

What are Mandirs?

What Pooja to do for Good Health

Seeking good health through spiritual means is an important part of Hindu

Moving into a new home is an exciting experience, especially for Indian families living in Australia. One of the most important spaces in a traditional Indian household is the pooja room, a dedicated area for prayer and spiritual reflection. Whether you’re living in a spacious house or a cozy apartment, setting up a pooja room that feels peaceful and sacred is essential. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to set up a pooja room, designed to help you create the perfect spiritual space in your new home.

1. Choosing the Right Location for Your Pooja Room

When setting up a pooja room, location is key. As per Vastu Shastra, the ancient Indian science of architecture, the ideal direction for a pooja room is the northeast corner of your home. This direction is considered to bring the most positive energy. If that’s not possible, you can choose east or north as the next best options.

For those living in smaller apartments in Australia, even a dedicated corner of a living room or a quiet spot in your home office can work as a pooja space. Avoid placing your pooja mandir in bedrooms or near bathrooms, as these are considered inauspicious.

2. Selecting the Perfect Pooja Temple

Once you’ve chosen the location, the next step is selecting a pooja mandir or temple. When choosing a pooja temple, consider the following factors:

Size: The size of your pooja temple should fit well within the chosen space without overcrowding it. If you live in a small apartment, consider a wall-mounted mandir or a compact wooden temple.

Material: Wooden pooja temples are most popular for their traditional feel, but marble temples are also gaining popularity for their durability and aesthetic appeal.

Design: Opt for a design that resonates with your personal style. Many Indians in Australia prefer a blend of modern and traditional designs to complement their home décor.

3. Arranging Idols and Pooja Items

After placing your pooja temple, it’s time to arrange the idols and pooja items. Follow these basic rules:

Idol Placement: Ensure that the idols face the north or east direction, and that you face the same way while praying.

Cleanliness: Keep your idols clean and organized. Avoid clutter, as a clean pooja room promotes positive energy.

Essential Items: Include essential items such as a diya (lamp), incense holder, pooja thali, bell, and a small shelf for storing holy books like the Bhagavad Gita or Ramayana.

4. Decorating Your Pooja Room

Decoration is an important part of creating a divine and serene atmosphere in your pooja room. Here are some easy ways to elevate the space:

Lighting: Soft, warm lighting, such as hanging lamps or fairy lights, can add a calming ambiance. You can also use diyas or oil lamps to illuminate the space during pooja ceremonies.

Flowers and Rangoli: Decorate your pooja room with fresh flowers, especially marigolds, and place a small rangoli (traditional design made from colored powder) at the entrance for special occasions.

Spiritual Symbols: You can hang spiritual symbols like Om, Swastik, or even tapestries of deities on the wall behind the temple.

5. Maintaining Your Pooja Room

A pooja room is a sacred space, and regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to keep the environment pure and serene.

Daily Cleaning: Clean the area daily, including wiping down the temple and idols. Change the flowers and clean the diya regularly to avoid any mess.

Weekly Deep Clean: Once a week, do a thorough clean of the space. This includes dusting the idols, washing the pooja cloths, and ensuring all the items are in their proper place.

6. Incorporating Modern Touches

For Indian homeowners in Australia who love a modern touch, you can integrate some contemporary elements into your pooja room:

Storage Solutions: Consider using stylish storage options for your pooja items, like small cabinets or floating shelves.

Minimalist Design: If you prefer a modern aesthetic, opt for a minimalist approach by using a simple, sleek pooja temple with fewer decorations.

Digital Accessories: You can also integrate technology, such as Bluetooth speakers for bhajans (devotional songs), or automated lighting systems that enhance the ambiance of the space.

7. Where to Buy Pooja Temples in Australia

For Indian families living in Australia, finding a high-quality pooja mandir can sometimes be a challenge. Here are a few options:

Local Indian Stores: Many cities in Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, have Indian furniture stores that sell traditional pooja temples.

Online Platforms: Websites like Amazon Australia or specialty Indian décor websites offer a wide variety of pooja mandirs that can be delivered to your doorstep.

Custom-Made Temples: If you want something unique, you can consider getting a pooja mandir custom-made and shipped from India. Many carpenters in India specialize in crafting bespoke pooja temples.

Conclusion

Setting up a pooja room in your new home is a meaningful way to bring spirituality and tradition into your space. By following these steps, you can create a serene and auspicious area for daily prayers, whether you’re living in a spacious house or a cozy apartment in Australia. Remember, the key to a peaceful pooja room is a combination of the right location, well-organized space, and personal touches that make it feel like a sacred sanctuary.

By carefully planning and arranging your pooja room, you’ll ensure that your new home is filled with positive energy and divine blessings.

How to Set up a Pooja Room?

What Are Mandir’s Used for

In Hindu culture, Mandirs, or temples, hold immense religious and cultural
